Whitelisting addresses
As part of our mission to provide members with maximum crypto security and peace of mind, we are launching Sender Address Whitelisting to make receiving crypto much simpler. Any crypto address you expect to receive funds from should be added to your in-app "Addressbook" for the money to land in your account. This new step is a powerful defense against fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing and another way for us to comply with global financial regulations that keep you safe. With the implementation of the Crypto Travel Rule at Xapo from January 2026, all members will need to whitelist any external crypto address before receiving funds from that address into their Xapo Bank app account. How do I whitelist a sender's address? In your Xapo Bank app:
Go to your "Profile" tab (in the top-right corner).
Tap on "Crypto Addressbook".
Follow the simple on-screen instructions to add the sender's address and provide the information we need.
What happens if I forget to whitelist an address before I get a deposit? If you receive a deposit from an address you haven't whitelisted yet, we'll put that deposit on hold for a moment. You will receive a notification right away asking for info about the sender's details. As soon as you provide them, we'll credit the deposit to your Xapo Bank app account. What if I don't know the sender's address? For example, my salary or a withdrawal from an exchange. This is very common, and you don't need to do anything beforehand. When the deposit comes in, we'll notify you that it's on hold and guide you through adding the sender's information. You only have to do this once for that address. Any future payments from the same sender will be credited automatically. What if my sender uses a different address every time? If a sender uses a brand-new address for each transaction, each of those deposits will be placed on hold until you confirm the details. Providing the info is quick (it usually takes about a minute). What happens if I don't provide the sender's details for a deposit on hold? We are required to collect this information, so we won't be able to credit the deposit to your account if the details aren't provided. Instead, we will have to return the funds to the exact blockchain address they came from. Please be aware that we cannot send the funds to any other address. If I whitelist one address, can I receive different stablecoins from it? Yes. Once you whitelist an address, it's approved for any supported crypto on that same network. For example, if you whitelist an ERC-20 (Ethereum) address, you can receive both USDT and USDC from that one address without needing to do anything else. What about deposits from "pooled" addresses, like an exchange, that other people also use? This process is tied specifically to your account. Even if the address is a shared one, we just need to know the details of the person or company sending the funds to you. If another Xapo member receives funds from that same exchange address, they will simply do the same for their account – your details are kept private and separate.
