FAQs
The Beneficiaries feature is available to all verified Xapo Bank members with an active account, provided it's permitted in your country. Any person over the age of 18 who complies with our terms and services can be nominated as a beneficiary. While you can add beneficiaries from any country, we advise verifying compliance with local regulations.
To add a beneficiary, go to the 'Profile' section of the Xapo Bank app, tap on 'Beneficiaries,' and then 'Add New Beneficiary.' After entering their personal details, you'll be asked to assign a percentage allocation. This percentage represents the portion of your total assets (cash, stocks, cryptocurrencies) that will go to this beneficiary. Bitcoin will be paid out as Bitcoin, other crypto assets will be liquidated to USD, stocks will be transferred, and USD will be paid out as USD.
Your beneficiary information is protected with industry-standard security measures, including end-to-end encryption and secure data storage. Only you can view or edit this information using your PIN or Face ID. Additionally, Xapo Bank handles this data in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
Xapo Bank does not notify nominees of their nomination; it is your responsibility to inform them. In the event of your death, beneficiaries are responsible for contacting Xapo Bank. We may request proof, such as a death certificate and verification documents from the nominee before releasing assets, which will be disbursed only to the nominee(s) at the specified percentages.
When adding a new beneficiary, you must provide their full legal name, date of birth, and your relationship to them. You can also provide additional information such as an ID/passport number, email, phone number, and address to facilitate easier verification and claims in the future.
Yes, you can easily add, change allocations, or remove beneficiaries at any time through the Xapo Bank app. Go to the 'Beneficiaries' section, select the beneficiary, and adjust the percentage or tap 'Remove Beneficiary,' confirming with your PIN or Face ID. For security purposes, if you need to update a beneficiary's personal details (other than allocation), you must delete and re-add them.
