Expanding Global Financial Reach: Xapo Bank Enables Euro Transfers via SEPA

Illustration

We are pleased to announce that Xapo Bank has enabled transfer of Euros via SEPA, allowing our members to transfer funds between their accounts and participating banks in SEPA member countries, near-instantly and at low fees.

Our members can send Euros using the funds in their Xapo Bank US dollar account, while Euros received to Xapo Bank are instantly converted to US dollars, where they immediately begin to earn our high annual interest rate of 4.5%.

This service is available 24/7, making Euro payments to bank accounts in SEPA member countries within Europe simpler and more accessible for our members.

What is SEPA?

The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) is a payment initiative that harmonises transfer of Euros between member countries, which include countries in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and other parts of Europe. By joining SEPA, financial institutions make it possible for their customers to make fast and easy Euro payments to any account within participating member countries.

How Do Our Members Benefit From Xapo Bank Enabling SEPA Transfers?

Fund Your Xapo Bank US Dollar Account Using Euros

Our members can receive Euros into their Xapo Bank US dollar accounts. As we do not offer Euro accounts, all Euros received are instantly converted to US dollars based on the prevailing EUR:USD interbank exchange rate.

Send Euros From Your Xapo Bank US Dollar Account

Our members can also send Euros to accounts in banks in SEPA member countries across Europe, and to international transfer services like Wise and Revolut using the funds in their Xapo Bank US dollar accounts. From there, they can send the funds to their local bank accounts if required.

Faster Processing Times

In today’s fast-paced world, speed has never been more important when it comes to payments and international transactions. Funds sent via SEPA are processed faster, ensuring money sent to accounts in banks within the network promptly reaches its destination.

Reduced Fees

Through a streamlined payment process that reduces the need for intermediaries, SEPA enables participating financial institutions like Xapo Bank to offer more cost-effective options for payments within the SEPA member countries across Europe. As a result, our members can save more on international transactions without compromising on speed and convenience.

Conclusion

Enabling transfers to and from accounts in SEPA member countries is the most recent step in our relentless drive to give our members access to innovative solutions, giving them the freedom to move money around the world seamlessly and more affordably.

In March 2023, we joined the Faster Payment System (FPS), enabling our members to send Pounds Sterling directly from their Xapo Bank US Dollar account to banks in the UK and participating overseas territories, as well as to digital wallets. We also became the first bank in the world to fully integrate with USDC, allowing our members to quickly and safely move money from fiat to USDC and back again.
