Another first: Xapo Bank now supports Lightning Network payments

We are pleased to announce that we are the first bank to support Lightning Network payments, through our strategic partnership with Lightspark. This means that Xapo Bank members can now make low cost and lightning fast Bitcoin payments at the tap of a few screens on the Xapo Bank app.

The Lightning Network is a decentralised payment network and second-layer solution on top of the Bitcoin blockchain network. It allows users to make transactions in a faster and cheaper way than using traditional methods, without having to wait for multiple blockchain confirmations.

Staying First, because we put our members first

This is the latest in our history of firsts, driven by the desire to provide the best way for our members to protect and grow their savings.

Building on our reputation as the world’s first Bitcoin storage and security service to be fully protected and insured against hacking and bankruptcy, in 2021, Xapo Bank was established - the first bank to natively combine traditional banking with crypto

Last year, we were the first to bring banking integration for stablecoins, enabling our members to send USDC to their accounts, which is instantly converted to US Dollar on a 1:1 basis the moment it is received.

We remain at the forefront of innovative financial services, merging the security of a traditional credit institution with efficiencies of blockchain infrastructure to deliver unrivalled wealth protection for our members.
